In a pioneering collaboration, Mayo, Sligo, and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB) join forces with Gaelchultúr to unveil the Certificate in Professional Irish Course. This innovative part-time programme, delivered through the Skills to Advance initiative, caters specifically to professionals aspiring to attain an official language qualification for career progression.

Welcoming this initiative, Tom Grady, Chief Executive of MSLETB, expressed his enthusiasm, stating,

“I am thrilled to announce the launch of our newest initiative, the ‘Certificate in Professional Irish’ programme, brought to you by our dedicated Skills to Advance team. This programme not only fosters a deeper connection to the Irish language but also empowers individuals to integrate professional proficiency in Irish into their skill set.

At MSLETB, we believe that championing linguistic diversity contributes not only to the preservation of heritage but also creates opportunities for personal and professional growth within the workplace.”

Darren Ó Rodaigh, Chief Executive of Gaelchultúr, echoed these sentiments, stating,

“The business world has evolved significantly since the Official Languages (Amendment) Act 2021 was brought into effect. The Act, which promotes the rights of the Irish-speaking community, has cemented the integral role the language plays in commercial affairs across all industries on the island of Ireland.

There are more opportunities than ever before for Irish-speakers, and we’re delighted to partner with MSLETB to provide professionals with the skills required to access those opportunities.”
