Minister for the Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris, TD and Minister Frank Feighan, TD, visit Sligo Community Training Centre and Sligo Youthreach

MSLETB welcomed Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris, TD and Minister Frank Feighan, TD to Sligo Community Training Centre and YouthReach Sligo.

First the Ministers visited the Sligo Community Training Centre where they toured their fantastic facility. During their visit, they met some learners. They listened to their stories about how their courses at Sligo Community Training Centre have helped them identify the next steps on their educational journey. While visiting Sligo Community Training Centre today, the minister had the opportunity to meet learners Aimee Flynn, Amber Meade, Bradley Fowley, Robert Burnside, Sharif Sadat, Hewad Mahmood and catering learners. The students also presented the Ministers with a hand-made picture of Ben Bulben and some produce grown in their on-site garden.

The next stop on their tour was to Youthreach Sligo where the Ministers spent time with Staff and learners and toured the facilities. The Ministers spoke to the learners and they expressed their positive experiences with Youthreach. They found that Youthreach was a more beneficial experience than the traditional educational system as the programme allows them to focus on the subject most important to them. Among some of the students were Amanda McLoughlin, Annalee Cawley, Vaughan Gilligan, Megan Oldham, Will Milham and Reuben Burns. During the tour, the Ministers were treated to a musical performance by the learners and a viewing of the latest film they created within the programme.
