The Protected Disclosures Act 2014, as amended by the Protected Disclosures (Amendment) Act 2022, provides a framework for workers and other reporting persons to raise concerns about relevant wrongdoing encountered in a work-related context. Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB) is committed to promoting a culture of openness, integrity, accountability and ethical behaviour, and actively encourages individuals to speak up where they reasonably believe wrongdoing may have occurred. MSLETB recognises the important role that workers and other reporting persons play in identifying and addressing wrongdoing and is committed to ensuring that concerns are taken seriously, assessed appropriately and handled in confidence.

MSLETB’s Protected Disclosures Policy provides clear reporting channels and procedures, together with the protections afforded under legislation, to support individuals in raising concerns without fear of penalisation. The policy applies to a broad range of reporting persons, including current and former employees, contractors, agency staff, trainees, interns, volunteers, board members and others who obtain information through a work-related relationship with MSLETB.

Individuals seeking independent information, guidance or support before making a protected disclosure may also contact the Speak Up Helpline operated by Transparency International Ireland, which provides confidential information, referral advice and advocacy support to people considering reporting wrongdoing.
