Mayo College of FET first ever Graduation event!

Graduates from MSL ETB’s recently formed Mayo College of FET celebrated with family and invited guests at the institution’s first official Graduation Ceremony at Breaffy House Resort on Friday, 18 November.

The event marked the achievements of almost 300 Graduates from the Castlebar and Westport campuses from 22 Level 5 programmes, 10 Level 6 programmes and 3 Night School programmes.  While some Graduates could not attend due to work or study commitments, management and staff of Mayo College of FET were delighted to welcome a large number of former learners and their families to the first official Graduation of the newly formed College, following the merger of what was formerly Castlebar College of Further Education and Westport College of Further Education.  The event was attended by Mr Tom Grady, Chief Executive of MSL ETB, Mr. Peter Egan, Director of FET at MSL ETB, Ms Tereasa McGuire, Chairperson of Mayo College of FET’s Board of Management, Mr Michael Ring, TD, Mr Alan Dillon, TD and Dr Justin Kerr, Head of ATU, Mayo and a member of Mayo College of FET’s Board of Management.

Graduates of the Year from each full-time programme were presented with an award which marked their overall contribution to their course.

In his speech, Mr Tom Grady congratulated all of the Graduates in what he said was a very proud night for the College and for MSL ETB.  He spoke about MSL ETB’s commitment to provide alternative pathways to learners in an effort to allow them to further their studies or to directly enter the workforce.  Mr Grady acknowledged the challenging times experienced by the Graduates during Covid 19, and he lauded their efforts, and that of management and staff, to make the teaching and learning experience as positive and successful as it had been.

Principal of Mayo College of FET, Mr Michael Murphy, thanked the staff of Mayo College of Further Education and Training for their commitment and dedication to their students. He stated he was confident that the skills and qualifications students acquired in Mayo College will act as a springboard to successful careers.
