Sligo College of Further Education & Training celebrated the success of its graduating students on Friday, 17th October 2025, with special guest Minister Marian Harkin presenting awards to learners.

This year, approximately 250 learners received their awards in person, with over 400 learners having completed their studies earlier this year and earned certification across a broad range of programmes. Graduates have completed courses spanning more than 40 disciplines, including Business & Computing, Health, Care & Social Studies, Design, Science & Engineering, and Hairdressing & Beauty.

David McGuinness, Principal of Sligo College of Further Education & Training, praised the students’ achievements:
“Graduation is always a significant milestone for our learners. Today’s ceremony recognises the commitment, hard work, and resilience they have shown throughout their studies. It should give them great confidence as they move forward into the next phase of their journey, whether in further study or employment.”

Now firmly established under the Mayo, Sligo, and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB), Sligo College of Further Education & Training continues to grow its provision across its three campuses: Ballinode, Tubbercurry, and Quay Street.

Tom Grady, Chief Executive of MSLETB, highlighted the college’s ongoing development and role in the region:
“Sligo College of Further Education & Training has quickly established itself as a centre of excellence for learners across the northwest. We are proud of the strong partnerships we have built with industry and higher education, and of the opportunities we are creating for learners of all ages. Today’s graduates demonstrate the impact of further education and training in opening doors to brighter futures, both for individuals and for our communities.”

The graduation ceremony brought together students, families, and dignitaries from across the region to celebrate the dedication and accomplishments of the Class of 2025.
