Leitrim College of Further Education and Training (FET) held the 5th Leitrim Learners Conference on Tuesday, 25th November, at The Landmark Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon. The event brought together almost 300 adult learners from across Leitrim College of FET.
Celebrating lifelong learning under the theme “Your Journey, Your Voice, Your Vision,” the conference united adult learners, educators, and community partners to share experiences, build connections, and inspire continued personal and professional growth.
Keynote speaker David Delaney captivated the audience with an inspiring address, challenging participants to embrace change, pursue growth, and discover their unique voice and vision for the future. Introducing his RESET framework which is Resilience, Empowerment, Self-awareness, Empathy, and Time Management. Delaney emphasised that learners already have the tools to transform their lives today through practical techniques such as mindful breathing and strategies for managing stress. The RESET Programme has already empowered over 12,000 participants, equipping them with the confidence and skills to thrive in both personal and professional life.
A highlight of the event was Angela Keogh’s story of transitioning from a long nursing career to rediscovering her passion through the Traditional Irish Music Course at Leitrim College of FET. Angela spoke about how returning to education reignited her creativity, strengthened her sense of purpose, and reconnected her with the local community.
Speaking at the event, Cormac Hanlon, Adult Education Officer with Leitrim College of Further Education and Training, said: “
Our aim is to empower communities through lifelong learning by offering education that is accessible, flexible, and responsive to the needs of learners.
