Mayo Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB) Adult Educational Guidance Service (Leitrim) held the annual Leitrim Learners Conference on Wednesday, April 26th, at the Landmark Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon. Over 150 adult learners from Leitrim gathered to connect with fellow learners, gain valuable insights, and empower themselves for their next career steps.
The event featured a range of expert speakers and panelists, who offered advice and insights on topics such as career development, job interviews, and CV writing. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from Eileen, an adult learner who recently returned to pursue a course in Computer Applications at Mohill Computer Training Centre and is now the course’s Assistant Course Co-Ordinator. Our panelists included: Ivy Hogan, EHSQ Manager, King & Moffat, Barry Usher, Managing Partner, Macro Recruitment, and Ciara Maxwell, General Manager, The Shed Distillery. The event concluded with an inspiring keynote speech from Performance Coach Conor O’Keefe.
Jane Nolan, MSLETB Adult Educational Guidance Co-ordinator, expressed her delight at the success of the event, saying:
“The theme of the event was Connecting Communities. The event brought Leitrim Further Education and Training learners together to encourage them to think about their own purpose and their passions, to meet and listen to new people who can give inspiration and information that may be needed to take the next step, and finally, to celebrate all that the learners have achieved so far.”
The Leitrim Learners Conference is a part of the Leitrim Adult Educational Guidance Service’s ongoing commitment to providing support and guidance to all adult learners in Leitrim. The Service offers free one-to-one guidance and support to individuals who need help with educational and career path decisions.
Speaking at the event, MSLETB Director of Further Education and Training, Peter Egan said:
“We are delighted to see so many of our Leitrim Learners at this event today. Further Education and Training is critical in today’s competitive jobs market. Upskilling and reskilling are essential for success in today’s fast-paced and ever-changing job market.
