Mayo, Sligo, and Leitrim Education and Training Board’s Further Education and Training (FET) Expo will take place from March 6th to 7th at the Breaffy House Hotel in Castlebar. The event focuses solely on MSLETB’s extensive further education and training programs available in the Mayo area.
The session on Monday 6 March from 7.00pm – 9.00pm aims to inform and educate parents, guardians, guidance counsellors, and school principals about the benefits of FET for school leavers and outline the various options available including PLC courses, skills training, traineeships, and apprenticeships. Brian Mooney, a guidance counsellor and educational columnist with the Irish Times, will also be speaking at the session.
Those looking seeking to upskill are also encouraged to attend this information session. Information will be provided about free or subsidised part-time training opportunities from Levels 4-6 or for low skilled workers who, without participation in training, may not have the confidence to embrace change in the workplace. Recognition of Prior Learning opportunities will also be highlighted.
On Thursday 24 November from 10.00am-2.00pm the Expo will be open to secondary level students. This session is aimed at providing information on full and part-time education and training opportunities offered by MSLETB’s FET Service. MSLETB representatives will be present to discuss the opportunities and attendees can talk to current students for first-hand experience of MSLETB FET courses.
