Congratulations to Mick Kane and the team at Achill Outdoor Education and Training Centre who were nominated for two awards at the Outsider Awards 2022. The annual Outsider Awards event celebrates all of the amazing achievements, milestones and contributions that have taken place in the Irish outdoor community over the past year.
The centre was nominated for the Best Outdoor Escape award. This award showcased and celebrated all the benefits of the Irish adventure scene! This is a fantastic opportunity for both MSLETB and Achill Outdoor. Achill OETC Director Mick Kane was also nominated for the Eco-Hero of the year award. Well done to all involved.
Achill Outdoor was the first outdoor education and training centre to be established in Ireland in 1971. They deliver outdoor sports and providing outreach programmes to school students and youth groups. They also deliver community education on environmental stewardship such as marine/ seashore education, Leave no Trace environmental ethics programme, Water Framework Directive projects, Climate adaptation and awareness and a level 5 Outdoor/ Environmental Traineeship.
